Cristobal Gomez Gypsy Jazz Project
"A guitarist of the 21st century more akin to the traditional school of jazz, swing and hot music. Initially defining himself as a revivalist of these styles, Cristóbal Gómez is in a line of other young musicians who also explore the foundations of the genre. He then established his own quintet and in 2006 released Cristóbal Gómez Quinteto, which was his debut album as leader and composer.
During 2007, and after collaborating with the Santiago Hot Club Group in the field of jazz manouche, Gomez traveled to Paris to study more French swing. Upon his return he consolidated that parallel proposal with the band Gypsy Trio (that futured the guitarists Gabriel Montt and Ignacio Díaz). They released the albums Homenaje a Django Reinhardt (2008), Swing Gitane (2011), Sur (2013) and Don Parra (2014), which all interpreted the music of Django Reinhardt and Roberto Parra. A second travel of studies, now New York, enabled Gomez reactivate in Santiago his initial project of contemporary jazz, in the format of a Sextet with saxophones alto, tenor and baritone"
